We wanted to introduce you to us and our team in case you are new to Golden Hinde or if you just want to know more about us. Golden Hinde was formed in 1996 this started as Sarah’s mother Susan Hinde was holding small classes with friends who wanted to learn Goldwork. At this time Sarah was at University studying Business and Financial management and felt that they needed to create a company selling small quantities of threads and wires and so Golden Hinde was born. It started very small, from a room in Sarah’s house but over 30 years later it has grown we are in an office and we now have over 1000 products!
We are still relatively small but we have 3 main staff members and currently 3 packers who get our stock ready to be sent to you. The main people in the office are myself – Kate – who is the office manager, I deal with lots of the day to day items writing this blog, newsletters, handle retreats etc. Carly is our other office member she is most likely the person that you speak to on the telephone, she gets all your orders ready, and organises all the stock.
All our stock is put together by hand, including all of our Goldwork kits. All our threads and wires are cut and packed by hand by a member of our packing team, most are packed in Glassine bags which are acid free so reduce tarnishing on metal threads. We hold in person Embroidery retreats which are held Monday – Friday at our hand picked venues 3-4 times a year. In addition to this we hold in-person bi-weekly classes at our studio in Warrington as well as attending the Knit and Stitch shows At Alexandra Palace and Harrogate
