Goldwork Techniques and Basket weave Retreat

Want to get away with it all and relax with some wonderful Goldwork Embroidery. Meet like-minded people on our Monday-Friday retreats with many different ones held year round so there is something for everyone. No chores, no daily routine to distract you, and the luxury of feeling looked after from dinner on your day of arrival to lunch on departure day.

This retreat we will be concentrating on Basket weave which creates a fabulous effect. This is a wonderful technique to learn and will be useful in a wide range of projects, with 4 designs to choose from the cross, bulrushes, fish and a fan. Sarah will show you the best technique and how to make the stitch perfect. Don’t want to do our design? No problem, we are happy for you to do your own project and we will assist you with your design and techniques, Or have your own design to incorporate the Basket weave into.

Join us to learn the basic techniques of goldwork to the more advanced, how and why stitches are done in a certain way and how to perfect the skills that you already have. Learn several different techniques essential for any goldwork project, how to couch to perfection, how to stitch leather and use padding to give the best effects. (techniques can vary from retreat to retreat) Complete a gorgeous piece of work highlighting all the techniques that you have learnt

This retreat is suitable for everyone, is there a particular stitch you want to learn? we can show you how to do it. Choose your design and away you go. Our tutor is Sarah Rakestraw who has many years of experience in the world of Goldwork, even writing a book Glorious Goldwork which is available on our website.

If you so choose, we are happy for you to work your own design and we will guide you and assist you with techniques

This retreat is booking up quickly with over half the spaces booked 

A pack will be available to purchase, sometimes you are able to choose the colours you want to work with, so the cost will be selection dependent. This pack for this retreat will be between £40 – £60 (prices are subject to change)

Venue details

Our venue Foxhill house is based in the stunning Cheshire countryside, you will have your own beautiful and cosy en-suite bedroom. With large grounds to explore for a relaxing walk. All meals are created on site and are included in the cost.

All residential’s include accommodation which is generally a on suite bedroom for one. Occasionally we will have other options available.

Cost includes all accommodation and meals as follows

Breakfast includes cereals, fruit, toast etc

Morning Coffee (or a variety of teas, Coffee or juice) comes with a selection of biscuits.

Lunch is served as a buffet, hot or cold.

Afternoon Tea (a variety of teas, or coffee, or juice) is served with biscuits.

Dinner is a three-course meal, hot or cold.
