Join us to learn the basic techniques of goldwork to the more advanced, how and why stitches are done in a certain way and how to perfect the skills that you already have. Learn several different techniques essential for any goldwork project, how to couch to perfection, how to stitch leather and use padding to give the best effects. Complete a gorgeous piece of work highlighting all the techniques that you have learnt

This retreat is suitable for everyone, is there a particular stitch you want to learn? we can show you how to do it. Choose your design and away you go. Our tutor is Sarah Rakestraw who has many years of experience in the world of Goldwork, even writing a book Glorious Goldwork which is available on our website.

This Beautiful Butterfly includes many different techniques including leather and beetlewings

If you so choose we are happy for you to work your own design and we will guide you and assist you with techniques

The project pack will not be posted but will only be brought to the venue and includes all the threads and wires needed to complete the project, you will be able to pick which coloured purls and leathers that you want to work with. Please note that the pack will be available in Gold only.

Not included in pack –  silk dupion and backing fabric, frame, needles, couching thread, beeswax and scissors

We will only be bringing the amount of packs ordered we will not have spare.

Venue details

Our venue Foxhill house is based in the stunning Cheshire countryside, you will have your own beautiful and cosy en suite bedroom. With large grounds to explore for a relaxing walk. All meals are created on site and are included in the cost.

All residential’s include accommodation which is generally a on suite bedroom for one. Occasionally we will have other options available.

Cost includes all accommodation and meals as follows

Breakfast includes cereals, fruit, toast etc

Morning Coffee (or a variety of teas, Coffee or juice) comes with a selection of biscuits.

Lunch is served as a buffet, hot or cold.

Afternoon Tea (a variety of teas, or coffee, or juice) is served with biscuits.

Dinner is a three-course meal, hot or cold.
