Kate came to teach us Silk Shading, where we stitched a viola design. This class was lovely and once you knew the appropriate stitches then silk shading was quite straight forward the key was to know when to stop as it is quite literally painting with threads (in our case stranded cottons). We hope to catch up with Kate in the future.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”18228,24419,24418″] [vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_custom_heading text=”Sara Rickards”][vc_single_image image=”105″]In 2019 we were delighted to welcome Sara Rickards as one of our guest tutors. Sara joined Golden Hinde to teach us Tambour work. RSN tutor Sara was so patient when teaching us what turned out to be a very difficult technique for many to master. Once you got the knack of how to attach each bead then it was straight forward, but easy to still miss a stitch. We loved having Sara over for a few days, she is so lovely and we hope to see her in the future whether that is teaching or at a show.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”105″][vc_single_image image=”24410″ lightbox=”yes”] [vc_custom_heading text=”Jen Goodwin”][vc_single_image image=”105″]On July 2nd and 3rd July 2018 we had the pleasure of welcoming Jen Goodwin who joined us as a guest tutor at our regular classes to teach us Blackwork. Jen is a RSN Tutor and Assessor, and is well known for her Blackwork and Silk work.
The decision was made that we were going to attempt to create Jen’s magnificent Peacock, which has several Blackwork stitches and is enhanced by the pulled work surrounding the peacock.
We had a full class, people had travelled from far and wide, we all started with a cup of tea (or coffee) and gave Jen the chance to introduce herself to the class and get everyone ready to start. Hoops/frames at the ready we used linen Belfast which is 32TPI, the design was ready drawn on, we all also had packs with needles and threads that were needed to complete the design – machine thread, stranded cotton and coton a broder.
Jen is inspiring, patient and so down to earth, not to mention funny, she is always happy to demonstrate techniques several times until people were ready to give it a go.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”105″][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”4893,4116,4894″ img_size=”medium”]We also interviewed Jen, about her work and influences which can be seen by clicking the following link Jen Goodwin Interview[/vc_column_text] [vc_custom_heading text=”Nicola Jarvis – Whitework Owl”][vc_single_image image=”105″]June 2016
In June 2016 we were very happy to be able to host RSN tutor Nicola Jarvis for a Whitework class where we got to learn many different techniques to complete a beautiful Whitework Owl.
We completed our owls on the beautiful Church Linen , using pearle and stranded cotton, we had the option to use colours instead of the white, we had the option of pastel green, blue or pink.
Nicola is a very friendly and approachable tutor who has time for everyone the two classes were very much enjoyed by all who attended.[/vc_column_text][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”2270,2268,2269″ img_size=”medium”] [vc_custom_heading text=”Georgina Bellamy – Couture creatures”][vc_single_image image=”105″]November 2017
